So the weather this past weekend was peculiar. First it was a glorious 72 degrees one day, and then the next day, a frigid and blustery 26 degrees. Finicky dust bowl weather for you. I first got a navy version of this coat, but liked the fit and style of the puffed shoulders so much, that I had to get the other swatch. This one was dubbed "tobacco" color, interesting name for a hue, don't you think?
Today more felt like the sombre (yet somewhat comforting) mood of English weather, and to top it off we went to see the film, "The King's Speech." I highly recommend seeing it. Resilience, dedication, heartfelt appreciation, exposition of humanity, all with a dash of tongue in cheek pretty much sum it up. The costumes, the acting, the dialogue, and the orchestration of the music score are collectively beautiful. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will sweep away at the Oscars.
Continuing with the "London" theme, there is also a poignant, song that comes to mind. The pensive words to the London Hymn are "May the restless dead find sleep, and may the light of our remembering, guide them to an everlasting peace." Sometimes winter causes us to hole up, with a warm cup of tea, cozying up next to the fireplace. And sometimes winter helps our pace of life slow down and gives us time to reflect on our past, the world of auld lang syne, and history as a seemingly, endless storybook.
